The Last Night has been announced for Xbox One and PC, offering artistic cyberpunk platformer.
“The Last Night is what we call post-cyberpunk – it’s not the kind of dystopia the genre is famous for, rather it depicts an alternate direction for society. One where the fight for survival doesn’t mean food and water, but a purpose for living. Human labour and creativity has been rendered obsolete by AI, so people are now defining themselves by what they consume, not what they create,” says the developer.
Further details about the game give the trailer some substance. Â The main character is Charlie, a lower class citizen who isn’t able to function in a world that has grown technologically due to a childhood accident.
The Last Night started as a prototype game for a cyberpunk gamejam and won the competition. Â The small development team then continued to work on the concept to flesh it out into a full game, apparently.
The release date for The Last Night has been set for 2018.
