It’s important to learn where to find Paldium Fragments in Palworld early on. You will need this crafting resource throughout your entire playthrough.
Paldium Fragments are used for many things, but their most frequent use is in the making of Pal Spheres, an essential item to fill your Paldeck, have a stronger party, and have a workforce to keep your base working even when you’re not around.
How to Get Paldium Fragments in Palworld
You can get Paldium fragments by mining boulders or Paldium rocks. While regular boulders sometimes yield Paldium Fragments when mined, certain bluish rocks will provide nothing but Paldium Fragments. That said, in order to mine said rocks, you first need a Stone Pickaxe. Eventually, you will be able to craft a Crusher, which turns rocks into Paldium Fragments, making this entire process much easier.
How to Craft a Stone Pickaxe and a Primitive Workbench in Palworld
In order to craft a Primitive Workbench, you need the following materials:
- 2 Wood
Early in the game, during the tutorial objectives, you can craft a Stone Pickaxe. In order to craft a Stone Pickaxe, you first need a Primitive Workbench. You can find enough wood and rock on the ground near the starting area. Punching trees also works. It doesn’t take long for you to be able to craft an Stone Pickaxe and a Stone Axe, making the process of collecting wood and rock much easier.
Stone Axes and Stone Pickaxes require the same amount of resources to be crafted. Each needs the following:
- 5 Stone
- 5 Wood
Best Way to Get Paldium Fragments in Palworld
The best way to farm Paldium Fragments in Palworld is by refining Stone into Paldium once you have a Stone Pit and a Crusher. With these two facilities and a Pal with a level 2 Mining Work Suitability, you can mine faster than anyone else. Here’s how to do it:
- Catch a Pal that has Mining as a Work Suitability
- Catch a Pal that has Watering as a Work Suitability
- Build a Stone Pit
- Build a Crusher
- Refine Stone into Paldium Fragments
Catch a Pal that Has Mining as a Work Suitability
The best Pal for the job will depend on your level and how far in the game you are. A Pal’s Work Suitability also depends on its elemental type. Luckily, you can find Cattiva, a cat Pal, quite early in the game. It has a level 1 Mining Work Suitability that can get the job done until you catch a better Pal.
Your next best choice is the level 15 Penking Boss who has a level 2 Mining Work Suitability. To find this Penking, go to the tower where you fight Zoe & Grizzbolt and then move straight up north until you find another Fast Travel point.
Catch a Pal that Has Watering as a Work Suitability
The easiest Pal to find early with a Watering work Suitability is the Pengullet. You’ve probably stumbled across this adorable penguin when checking the coast of the starting area or when farming Pals Fluids.
That said, your best choice here will be, once again, just going for Penking. Not only it can mine the Stone you will need, but it can also operate the Crusher with its level 2 Watering Work Suitability.
Build a Stone Pit
Once your character reaches level 7, go to your Technology tab and unlock the Stone Pit using Technology Points. If you don’t have enough Paldium Fragments to build a Stone Pit yet, you can always obtain some by mining boulders, which yield both Stone and Paldium Fragments. I recommend placing a Wooden Chest or a Wooden Box next to the crusher so your Pals can store stone there and you can use it in your base without having it in your backpack. That said, here’s what you need to build a Stone Pit:
- 50 Stone
- 20 Wood
- 10 Paldium Fragment
Build a Crusher
With a Cattiva or a Penking assigned to work on the Stone Pit, it’s time to build a crusher. Make sure to have a Wooden Chest next to it to store the Paldium Fragments you will get from the Crusher. To build this facility, you need to level up your character to at least level 8, unlock the Crusher in your technology tab, and have the following material:
- 50 Wood
- 20 Stone
- 10 Paldium Fragment
Refine Stone into Paldium Fragments
Now, you’re equipped with everything you need to farm Paldium Fragments instead of looking for places to mine them. Make sure that you have at least one Pal assigned to the Stone Pit, but you assign more than one if you want to speed up the process. Then, when you have enough Stone, go to the Crusher and start the refining process.
5 Stones will become 1 Paldium Fragment. If you’ve followed all the steps above, you will never have to explore the world hoping to find Paldium Fragments. Your supply of Stones will always be enough. Since you will have a bunch of Paldium Fragments, you can make enough Pal Spheres to catch a second Penking and significantly speed up your production!
What Are Paldium Fragments Used For in Palworld?
Paldium Fragments are used for most things you craft that are related to Pals, from Pal Spheres to Pal, but also for making a lot of other items. You will always be using Paldium Fragments throughout your entire playthrough. Here are some of the items and structures that require this material to be crafted:
- Pal Box
- Pal Spheres
- Alarm Bell
- Shields
- Pal Gear Workbench
- Foxsparks’s Harness
- Statue of Power
- Crusher
- Hot Spring
- Stone Pit
You will always need Pal Spheres, so you will always need to find Paldium Fragments, which means that you should work your way into having a Stone Pit and a Crusher as soon as possible.
