It’s that time of the month yet again where new Xbox Live Games With Gold titles are revealed, cutting it a little close this month. Every new month means four new games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to download and enjoy. After multiple months of getting two Xbox One games, one Xbox 360 game, and one Xbox Original game, we’ve gone back to the two Xbox 360 games setup for the upcoming month.
First up, we’ve got quite a disappointment for the Xbox One game that will be available all month starting on May 1st, which is Marooners. This game released in early 2018 to a 56 review score on Metacritic and only retails for $9.99. This honestly might be one of the worst Xbox One offerings we’ve gotten to date and really makes the whole month a bad value from the start.
Things do look up quite a bit in the second half of the month with The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA Tour. This golf series has seen some improvement over the last few years since it starts while we have been lacking new PGA Tour games from EA Sports and only released last August. The game features an 80 Metascore and retails for $49.99, so this is a much better value than the other Xbox One offering.
We also have two Xbox 360 games that are backwards compatible being offering, starting off with Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon from May 1st to May 15th. This game released back in 2011 and has a 68 Metascore, while retailing currently for $19.99. This is replaced in the second half of May by the 2010 title Comic Jumper, which comes with a Metascore of 74 and a retail price of $14.99.
May is not a downright awful month for Games With Gold, but the inclusion of Marooners really drags it down immensely. Regardless, make sure to grab the remaining April games today before the new games go up starting tomorrow, May 1st.
